What's your plan?

Welcome to 2018.  Like a clean sheet of paper, the new year can represent a fresh start.  This is the time when many of us make "Resolutions."  Or maybe not.  Resolutions have gotten a bad reputation over time, since a large percentage of them have been broken by Valentine's Day (if they make it that far)!  I think this is because resolutions are usually just wishes in disguise.  I resolve to lose weight.  I resolve to spend more time with my family.  I resolve to get in better shape...and the list goes on.  Admirable thoughts.  But how will we get there?  And what will we do when our "resolve" runs thin?

Spiritual goals work the same way.  For example, "I resolve to spend more time with God this year."  Great!  What's the plan?
*  I will set aside a specific time and place daily to pray and read God's Word.
But Jesus Himself would often slip away to the wilderness
and pray. ~ Luke 5:16 (NAS)

*  I will schedule this time in my calendar.  (What doesn't get scheduled, doesn't get done!)
Live life, then, with a due sense of responsibility, not as men who
do not know the meaning and purpose of life but as those who do.
Make the best use of your time, despite all the difficulties of these
           days. ~ Ephesians 5:15 (J.B. Phillips)

*  I will choose friends to whom I can not only be accountable to but seek encouragement from.
A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two
can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a
triple-braided cord is not easily broken.~ Ecclesiastes 4:12 (NLT)

A goal without a plan is just a wish. ~ Antoine de Saint-Exupery
