Wasted Worry

Often, we don’t give a thought to how much worrying we do.  We think it’s normal…or just part of our nature; but worry is something you learn to do.  There is no such thing as a “born worrier.”  It’s a learned response to life. 

The good news about that is that since worry is a learned response…it can be unlearned!


  • The starting point to overcoming worry is to realize it is useless.

  • Recognize that worry is merely meditating on the wrong things!

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable —if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.                                    ~Philippians 4:8
 
Remember that God is bigger than any problem we have.  Just because we don’t see a way out, doesn’t mean He doesn’t. (Isaiah 55:9) Instead of thinking about the size of our problems, let's think about the size of our GOD!
 
  • Pray
 
            “Don’t fret or worry.  Instead of worrying, pray.  Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns.  Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down.  It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.”                                               ~Philippians 4:6-7 (MSG)
 
                                                                                           
God is ready, willing and able to handle all of our concerns.  He wants our worries to be HIS concern.  “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.” ~1 Peter 5:7
