don't try to figure out everything on your own.
Listen for God's voice in everything you do, everywhere you go;
he's the one who will keep you on track. ~Proverbs 3:5-6 (MSG)
Rod Cooper in Worry or Worship, tells this story:
I remember watching a father play with his little boy, repeatedly
throwing him in the air and catching him just before he hit the
ground. The child is relaxed and having a great time saying,
"Do it again! Do it again!"
I thought, If that was me, I 'd be stiff as a board!
"Can you explain why he's so relaxed, even when he's out of
control?" I asked the father.
"It's very simple," he said. "We have a history together. We've
played this game before, and I've never dropped him."
God is committed to caring for our needs. Paul tells us that a man who won't feed his family is worse than an unbeliever (1 Timothy 5:8). How much more will a holy God care for his children? After all, how can we fulfill his mission unless our needs are met? How can we teach or minister or influence unless we have our basic needs satisfied? Will God enlist us in his army and not provide a commissary? Of course not.
Depend on the LORD, trust him, and he will take care of you.
~Psalm 37:5 (NCV)
The LORD is good...He cares for those who trust in him, ~Nahum 1:7
