By His grace and through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, who know dwells within us, we can be guided and fueled by the Holy Spirit. Because of His love and sacrifice, we have continual access to His truth, wisdom, strength and love. However, also because of Calvary, we are free to choose.
Let's choose love…No occasion justifies hatred; no injustice warrants bitterness, let's choose love. Today we will love God and what and who God loves.
Let's choose joy…Let's invite God to be the God of circumstance. Let's refuse the temptation to be cynical…the tool of the lazy thinker. I will refuse to see people as anything less than human beings, created by God. Let's refuse to see any problem as anything less than an opportunity to see God.
Let's choose peace…Let's live forgiven. Let's forgive so that we may live.
Let's choose patience...Instead of cursing the one who takes my place, I’ll invite him to do so. Rather than complaining that the wait is too long, let's thank God for a moment to pray. Instead of clinching our fists at new assignments, let's face them with joy and courage.
Let's choose kindness…Let's be kind to the poor, for they are alone; kind to the rich, for they are afraid; and kind to the unkind, for such is how God has treated us.
Let's choose goodness…Let's go without a dollar before we take a dishonest one. Let's be willing to be overlooked before we boast. Let's confess before we accuse. Let's choose goodness.
Let's choose faithfulness…Today let's keep our promises. Our debtors will not regret their trust. Our associates will not question our word. Our wives will not question our love. And our children will never fear that their father will not come home.
Let's choose gentleness…Nothing is won by force. Let's choose to be gentle. If we raise our voices may it be only in praise. If we clench our fists, may it be only in prayer. If we make demands, may they be only of ourselves.
Let's choose self-control…We are spiritual beings. After our bodies are dead, our spirits will soar. Let's refuse to let what will rot, rule the eternal. Let's choose self-control. Let's choose to be drunk only by joy. Let's be impassioned only by our faith. Let's be influenced only by God. Let's be taught only by Christ. Let's choose self-control.
Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. To these let's choose to commit our days. When we succeed, we will give thanks. When we fail, we will seek His grace.
