A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” ~John 13:34-35
What if it's not either of those?
What if it's an "I get to"? What if this command is an invitation to live more fully - to live how we were created to be.
In his book, Love Does, Bob Goff writes, “Accepting the invitation to show up in life is about moving from the bleachers to the field. It’s moving from developing opinions to developing options. It’s about having things matter to us enough that we stop just thinking about those things and actually do something about them. Simply put, Jesus is looking for us to accept the invitation to participate.”
God's love is purposeful, passionate, persistent, and powerful. Every day God is inviting us on the same kind of adventure. He giving us the opportunity to join Him in loving as He does.
We don't have to....we get to!
Goff goes on to say, “When love is a theory, it's safe, it's free of risk. But love in the brain changes nothing...Love is never stationary. In the end love doesn't keep thinking about it or keep planning for it. Simply put: love does."
We get to play! Let's get out of the stands and onto the field!
On the field together...
