This election, in many ways more than any other, has played upon our fears. Both major parties have repeatedly told us why we need to fear the other. Both sides have spent inordinate amounts of time, in a "pot calling the kettle black" kind of way, maligning the other's character. Not to mention the usual major philosophical differences between the parties. Figuring out how to cast our votes has been more challenging than ever before; and as a nation we have spent a great deal of our resources doing just that. It would seem that if ever there was a time that we need wisdom, it is now.
We serve a God who offers His wisdom freely if we seek Him.
If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives
generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.
~James 1:5
Pray. Ask God for His wisdom.
Remember, wisdom is truth in action.
Given that, the following truths can be a starting point for our action - in and out of the voting booths.
Regardless of who wins, we can trust God.
Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is
no authority except that which God has established. The authorities
that exist have been established by God. ~ Romans 13:1
Regardless of who wins, we do not have to fear.
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am
your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you
with my righteous right hand. ~Isaiah 41:10
Regardless of who wins, we have a mission.
Love one another as I have loved you. ~ John 13:34
Seek His wisdom in casting your vote; but remember, whoever wins, God is with us, in control and it is Him that we serve.
