In Super Bowl XLII, the Tom Brady-led Patriots were going into the game the heavy favorites, having been undefeated, a perfect 18-0. It was a miracle the Giants were still in the contest down 14-10 late in the fourth quarter. With just 1:15 left to play and still in their own territory, Eli Manning dropped back to pass on 3rd-and-5, nearly getting sacked 15 yards behind the line of scrimmage. Instead, he weaved his way out of traffic and heaved a pass to the middle of the field to Tyree, who — with the help of his helmet — caught the pass in traffic for a huge 32-yard gain. The play would setup the game-winning score and the 17-14 win, giving the Patriots their first and only loss of the season. What a game-changer that was! |
Our faith journey has significant game-changers in the game of life. Here are just a few:
1) Faith in Jesus Christ
Resting in the assurance of eternal life changes the way we live.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only
Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have
eternal life. ~ John 3:16
2) Prayer
Prayer is how we communicate with God. It is both an
acknowledgement and reminder of Who is in control. This is
a life-changing perspective.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation,
by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your
requests to God. ~Philippians 4:6
3) Community
God wants community for us. The scripture is clear: If we want to
experience God’s presence, we are seek Him through His word,
through the power of His Holy Spirit, and also through
relationships with other people. One of the ways we experience
God's work and presence is through others -
our brothers in Christ.
And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward
love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some
are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another.
~Hebrews 10:24-25
