Thankfully, they had a 'boogie board' with them. They both grabbed on to the boogie board and paddled...and paddled..and paddled. They swam for over an hour before they got close enough to the shore to stand up. When they got to the beach, they collapsed in the sand, utterly exhausted.
"Drift" is powerful and can end up in disaster. Just like swimming in the ocean and drifting away from the shore, it is easy to get caught up in a rip current and drift away from the Lord before we even realize it.
We can divert drift by being intentional about staying close to the shore.
We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates
and perfects our faith.~ Hebrews 12:2a (NLT)
And if we are caught in a drift, we need to wake up and recognize where we are. Find the shore. Take action to move towards it.
This is why it is said: “Wake up, sleeper! Rise from death, and Christ
will shine on you.” ~Ephesians 5:14 (NCV)
And Jesus said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you become
fishers of men.” ~ Mark 1:17 (NASB)
