The Importance of Character

Character is higher than intellect. A great soul will be strong to live, as well as strong to think."
                                                                  ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
You can never underestimate the importance of character. One of the words that is close to character in meaning is the Hebrew word that is translated “virtue.” If you trace its origins and meanings, one of the meanings is a “force.”

Someone of virtue is a force, and a force always leaves a result. When a hurricane comes through a town, you can see the results of its force. When the wind moves across the water, or through the trees, you can see the results of its force.

Likewise, when you move through life, through your company or organization, through your career, and through your relationships, your character is going to be a “force.” The question is, “What kind of force is it going to be?” When you bring energy and force of character to a goal or a project, will the force bring about Godly results?

In many ways, that is up to you. The goal here is to develop character that leads you to the right decisions. In order to make an impact, to be a force, you have to make decisions. More than that, in order to have a solid character that will strengthen your relationships, your team, and help you accomplish your goals -- the right way -- you have to make good decisions.

The great hope of society is individual character.
