Today is Memorial Day – a time for remembering. We set aside this day to remember, with gratitude, the blood of our fallen heroes. We take time to honor them for the hills fought for, the battles won and lost, the sacrifices made. We set aside this day to remember that many of the freedoms that we take for granted are owed much to the sacrifice that others have made.
Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.
~John 15:13
Jesus Christ won the battle that was played out on the hill called Calvary. He sacrificed His life for you…so that you would not die, but spend eternity with Him.
Just as our nation’s freedom’s are a monument to those who fought for it; so too are our lives a monument to the One who died that we might be free.
And so, dear brothers, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. ~Romans 12:1 NLT
