                  “Embrace the Future”

Every day is a gift from God.  Let us rejoice and be glad in it.  Don’t be afraid or fear the future.  We may not know what is ahead but we know the One who does know.  And Jesus promised to never leave or forsake us.  Our Lord told us to “seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all things would be added unto us.”  In other words, when we put our faith in Christ, God the Father promises to provide for and protect us (Matthew 6:33).

Every day we have a choice to believe God or not to believe God.  We can choose to be discouraged and disappointed by what happens to us, or we can discipline our minds to focus on God and trust Him to meet our needs.  When I was playing baseball, I remember our coach telling me again and again:  “Russ, you have to focus on the ball, and follow it all the way to the plate.  It may be a fast ball, curve, or change up.  Don’t focus on the pitcher. Keep your eyes on the ball.”  Sometimes, life throws us curves that confuse us and cause us to doubt and lose our confidence.  Or, our life seems to be going at such a fast speed, we feel overwhelmed.  Or, sometimes life throws us “change ups” and we get confused.  Each day we need to keep our focus on God, and choose to trust Him (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Every day gives us a new opportunity to follow Christ, and seek to become like Him.  Love Him, obey Him, honor Him, serve Him, and thank Him.  Love the people God has put around you.  Obey God’s Word.  Honor Him with your thoughts, words, and actions.  Serve others as Christ served.  Be thankful to Him in all things, and praise Him at the end of the day for His love and faithfulness to you (Lamentations 3:22).

Remember, God created you, forgave your sins, adopted you into His family, gave you the Holy Spirit, and promised you eternal life.  Don’t become victims and prisoners of anything.  Don’t let the world squeeze you into its own mold, but let God remold you from within by renewing your mind with His Word.  Walk and be guided by His Spirit.  Love God, hate evil, and be the best ambassador for Christ that you can (2 Timothy 1:7).
