"No man can live without delight, and that is why a man deprived of spiritual joy goes over to evil pleasures." ~ St. Thomas Aquinas

Psalm 37:4 says, “Delight in the Lord.” I delight in my relationship with my wife, adult daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren, ice cream, and watching football on television. But how do I delight in the Lord?
Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still and know that I am God.” The first thing I need to do is choose to be still. Decide on a place and time when you will not be interrupted. Turn to Psalm 145 and discover who God is and what He is like (His character). Spend some time thinking about each characteristic. End your time in prayer, thanking and praising God for who He is and how He has demonstrated His love, grace and faithfulness to you. Take time every day to think and meditate on God’s Word (Psalm 1:1-6). Time alone with God will deepen your relationship with God and soon you will find yourself “Delighting in the Lord.”

Every day my wife and I choose to take time to do 3 things – practice P.T.T. Praise God for Who God is; Thank God for His love, grace, and faithfulness; Trust God to meet our needs.

“GREAT IS THE LORD AND MOST WORTHY OF PRAISE. His greatness no one can fathom” (Psalm 145:3).

“Give God THANKSGIVING IN ALL CIRCUMSTANCES FOR THIS IS GOD’S WILL FOR YOU IN CHRIST JESUS” (1 Thessalonians 5:18).

“TRUST IN THE LORD WITH ALL YOUR HEART” (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Stop focusing on the world, others, or yourself. Set your mind on God. Talk to Him. Listen to Him. Spend time with Him. Get to know Him. And here is the promise from God – “He will give you the desires of your heart.”  What a great God we serve.  Let us enjoy and delight in our God together.

Because of HIS LOVE AND GRACE,
